Intimate Receptions
Ceremony and dinner,
one roomIntimate Wedding & Rehearsal Dinner Venue — Virginia Beach
For the smaller version of the day — a ceremony and dinner in the same room, a reception after a beach ceremony, or the rehearsal the night before.
The Room
A short guest list and a long evening
Not every wedding wants a ballroom. Arboretum is built for the smaller version — a ceremony and dinner in the same room, a dinner after a ceremony on the sand, or the rehearsal the night before the main event.
The room turns over between the parts of an evening: rows or a semicircle for the ceremony, long tables for dinner, then a floor you can clear for whatever happens after the toasts. Big windows for the daylight half of it, dimmable light for the rest.
How the room is set
- Ceremony
- Rows, a semicircle, or an aisle down the middle — then the room turns over for dinner while everyone is at the bar.
- Dinner
- Long tables or rounds, family-style or plated, from the Italian kitchen four doors down.
- After
- Dimmable light and a floor you can clear for a first dance. Start and end times are set when you reserve the date.
Food & Drink
Dinner from
four doors down
Arboretum shares Laskin Road with two restaurants under the same roof of hospitality. Book the room and you can bring their kitchens with it — one point of contact, menus built for your headcount, and food that arrives hot from a few doors down. Working with an outside caterer instead is welcome too; we’ll share the prep space and house rules on your tour.
Pacifica
Tapas & Cocktails — 328 Laskin RoadHot and cold tapas, grazing boards, and a thoughtful bar.
Right for the hour between the ceremony and the meal — or the whole reception, if nobody is sitting down.
Sorella’s
An Italian Eatery — 356 Laskin RoadFresh pasta and family-style plates passed down a long table.
The obvious choice for a rehearsal dinner, and a good one for the wedding itself.
Questions
Before you
send the inquiry
Can we hold the ceremony and the reception in the same room?
Yes — that is what the room is best at. It sets in rows or a semicircle for the ceremony and turns over to long tables or rounds for dinner. We plan the turnaround with you as part of the run of show.
Do you host rehearsal dinners?
Yes. A rehearsal dinner is one of the most natural fits for the room: one long table, family-style plates from Sorella’s four doors down, and an evening with no hard edges to it.
Can we get married on the beach and come here afterwards?
Yes. Arboretum is on Laskin Road near the north end of the Boardwalk, walkable from the beach, so guests can come straight from the sand without anybody moving a car.
Can we bring our own photographer, florist and music?
Yes. The room is a neutral shell and your vendors are welcome in it. Bring your own florals, linens, signage, photographer and music, or the planner you are already working with.
Is there a bar?
Pacifica, next door at 328 Laskin Road, handles the bar side of an evening. Tell us what you have in mind when you inquire and we will build it into the plan.
How many guests does the room hold?
It depends on the setup, since a ceremony, a seated dinner and a standing reception each fit different numbers — and this room is meant for the smaller end of a guest list. Send your headcount with your inquiry and we will confirm what works.
